Our story
Jose “Equus” Jimenez was a DJ and Promoter in the 1980s, spinning the best of New Wave, Freestyle, and Disco. He made it a point to save all the flyers from the events he helped create. Though, he’s no longer with us to see this project, this site exits to preserve his collection. This project is for those who attended these events & would like to reminisce or for anyone anyone interested in how event promotion design looked in the 80s. The fonts, design, and color schemes are what makes these flyers timeless.

Working alongside the Jimenez Family and the Gentlemen of Equus, we’ve been able to share a collection of memorable flyers, photos, and videos. Preserving moments that will continue to live on and be shared for years to come.
These pieces are more than just visuals, they represent a time, a sound, a look, and a community that brought people together. From the energy of the dance floor to the creativity behind each flyer, every detail tells a story worth remembering.
This project is just the beginning. Our goal is to continue expanding the archive and building a space where these memories can be revisited, appreciated, and discovered by new generations.

Hi. My name is Christian Jimenez (Jose’s son).
Growing up, I heard stories and spent time looking through flyers and photos from these events. Even though I wasn’t even born when they were happening, I always felt connected to the community they created.
Over the years, I’ve crossed paths with many people who attended these events, and they all shared the same things: how much fun they had and how unforgettable those moments were.
I wanted to give back to that same community in any way I could. With my dad’s collection of flyers and a passion for preserving these memories, this project felt like the right way to do it.
Whether you’re here to relive a moment, rediscover a memory, or just enjoy the visuals from that era, I hope this archive brings something meaningful to you.
